HOLIDAY 1986, Virginija Babušytė-Venckūnienė

File size:  1.74 MB

The sculpture Holiday explores the relationships within a family: mother, father and child. The child is flanked on both sides by guardians: his parents. The boy’s two prominent ears suggest he must listen to them, while his mouth appears to be sewn shut.

The theme of family unity is rendered in a modern way: all three figures are bound together by the roots of a plant, symbolising tradition and the firm foundation of life.
