INSPIRATION 1977, Julius Narušis

Julius Narušis’s sculpture portrays a cellist playing during a moment of inspiration.

Rendered in a realistic style, the work conveys the ecstasy stirred by music. Her face is lifted upwards, as if engaged in a dialogue with a higher, spiritual world.

The sculptor himself once said that he feels most inspired when he undertakes a task beyond his limits. It is then that he strives to reach his imagined ideal. And succeeds. We can sense that same striving embodied in this remarkable work.
