The sound of the sea, or a fragment from M.K. Čiurlionis’s symphony ‘The Sea’.
The sculpture Shadows of the Waves symbolises human life.
We see three waves – tall, medium, and small.
The tallest wave represents the beginning of life: a person full of strength, yet their memory – the shadow of their wave – is still short.
The second wave portrays life’s middle years, when one has achieved goals, knows what they are doing and where they are going. Their shadow of experience grows longer.
The third wave is old age: when a person bends close to the earth, legs weary, body spent. The memory of the elderly is like a long shadow, covering the whole of their life.
The sea’s roar, or the fragment of the symphony.
