The sculpture Two Bouquets returns to the park unrestored. In the 1990s, its bronze elements – the two flower bouquets – were stolen, along with it’s the granite pedestal. For years, the piece was kept in the museum’s storeroom. After 35 years, it has finally come back to the park.
In the latter half of the 20th century, Ksenija Jaroševaitė’s art distinguished itself through themes rarely seen in public spaces. She turned her attention to the poetry of the everyday: a person combing their hair, stretching, holding a bouquet, or simply resting.
This focus on the ordinary and the rejection of grand ideological statements is now recognised as being a quiet form of protest against Soviet dictatorship by late-20th-century artists.
