St. Casimir’s Day festival will take place in Klaipėda this weekend

The St. Casimir’s Day festival “Klaipėdos Kaziukas 2026” will take place in Klaipėda on February 28–March 1. The official opening of the event is scheduled for February 28 at 12 noon in Theater Square. The fair will be open on both days from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

During the festival, visitors will be able to purchase works by folk artists and craftsmen, handmade products, traditional palm branches, Lithuanian delicacies, and other items of national heritage.

This year’s theme for St. Casimir’s Day festival is “National Patterns,” and the main idea of the festival is that national customs preserve the spirit of the nation. The theme was not chosen at random – 2026 has been declared the Year of Motiejus Valančius in Lithuania.

“During the St. Casimir’s Day Fair, we want to show that traditions are not a thing of the past – they live among us,” says Kazys Vainoras, the main promoter of the festival.

The festival events will begin on February 27. At 6 p.m., the Klaipėda Fishermen’s Chamber mixed choir “Klaipėda” will give a concert entitled “Sing, Spring Sky” in the “Pajūris” hall in Klaipėda’s Old Town, featuring Lithuanian choral music.

The main events will take place on February 28 and March 1 at Theater Square. On Saturday, listeners will be treated to folk music bands, dance groups, folklore ensembles, and performers from various Lithuanian cities. The event will be hosted by Klaipėda Drama Theater actors Vaidas Jočys and Linas Lukošius.

Sunday’s program is geared toward families and young people, featuring the awards ceremony for the children’s drawing contest “Let’s Decorate St. Casimir with a National Ribbon,” concerts by children’s and youth groups, performances by the Lulu Theater, youth rock bands, and performers.
