She sits upon a massive stone. The stone is her land, which is giving her strength and hope, a guarantee of stability. The sea before her, by contrast, is restless and unreliable.

The work conveys the feelings of anxiety, waiting and hope that are so familiar to coastal communities, as women watch for their husbands and sons to return safely from a a storm.
